The melancholy of middle age takes me back, through the distance of time,
to the years when I tried to fill the void left by a loss.
Different beds, bodies that meant nothing, the illusion of feeling something again.
The flowers in this painting are them —
the women I used to cover that emptiness —
beautiful, fragile, but already lifeless.
They don’t bloom; they remain.
They’re the trace of a blind search,
of desire turned into habit,
of that clumsy tenderness that appears when you try to heal without understanding yourself.
Because even in ruin there’s beauty,
and sometimes painting is just a way of giving shape to the damage that’s already gone.
This piece will be sent directly from my studio, carefully packed by me.
