Alejandro Casanova
I work with oil and watercolor. Oil allows me to fix studied ideas through a more reflective process. Watercolor, on the other hand, lets me fall in love with risk, with fluidity, and with the beauty of mistakes. Both mediums coexist and complement each other—two different ways of looking at the same thing.
My brushstroke is sharp and deliberate, like painting with a scalpel. I’m obsessed with light and how color hardens or dissolves in contact with it. That tension between structure and vibration is at the core of how I understand painting.
My work has found its place in private collections inside and outside of Spain, thanks to exhibitions and collaborations with international galleries that share my view of art as a direct and honest experience.
I paint to build images that speak without needing to be explained. What the viewer sees is only the beginning of their own story.
