Without promises, oil on linen, 40×50 cm.
Painting Without promises was an exercise in returning to the essential, to the pure moment. It’s a young kiss, a kiss that doesn’t burn or promise. There are no words behind it, no declarations or guarantees. It simply is.
I wanted to capture that fleeting gesture, so human yet so transient. Working with fragmented brushstrokes allowed the color and form to feel as immediate as the act itself. The blue background wasn’t chosen by chance—it acts as a bubble, suspending this moment in its own space, detached from time.
For me, this piece speaks to the connection between two people but also to its fragility. There’s strength in the interaction of their hands, in the sharp lines of their faces, but also a softness that compels a closer look. Without promises doesn’t aspire to be anything beyond what it is: a single, unadorned moment, honest and free of expectations.
