Description
The weight of intimacy , oil on linen, 50×50 cm.
In this piece, I was drawn to the aesthetic tension between the two figures: how the young man’s face presses against the woman’s torso, creating a subtle distortion in the flesh. This physical compression invited me to explore a nuanced palette of browns and greys, intensifying the light and shadow that shape the composition.
Although I initially focused on the visual aspect, the painting gradually revealed an emotional undertone: a closeness that feels distant, an embrace that, despite its intimacy, conveys a sense of separation or detachment. There is a subtle contrast between physical proximity and emotional distance—a tension that I hope resonates with the viewers.
