The Base (Light at Rest) comes from returning to what matters most to me: the nude as foundation.
The body as the core of painting — flesh, skin, color.
Light is the real protagonist here. A forced light that presses against the body, pushing subtle shifts of color and temperature. The composition tilts, yet remains balanced, holding a quiet symmetry beneath the movement.
The geometric, fractured background is my way of translating fabric — and the world itself — into paint. A space that feels constructed, almost sharp, in contrast with a body that rests, relaxed and exposed.
There is no narrative to follow. What matters is the act of looking. The pleasure of getting lost in color, in transitions, in the way light settles on skin.
This work sits naturally within my ongoing figurative practice, informed by my training and by artists who have shaped my way of seeing the body — from Freud to Euan Uglow — but it stands fully on its own.
This piece will be sent directly from my studio, carefully packed by me.
Large formats (130 x 130 cm) are rolled and sent in a tube, with stretcher bars included.
Shipping is included — as a gesture of gratitude.
The artwork is signed and comes with its certificate of authenticity.
