Description
This painting was the seed of the series The Sleepers – fragments in suspension.
It marked the moment when I began to explore a different kind of tension — not one built on conflict, but on the silent collision between structure and vulnerability.
In this piece, the figure rests in a delicate balance between surrender and control. The body, shaped by light and tonal contrast, reclines on a field of blue stripes that do more than create rhythm: they hold the space, they frame the silence.
Cobalt —a recurring presence in my work— acts here not only as a chromatic anchor, but as a compositional force. The painting is built on this dialogue: between the rigidity of the lines and the softness of the body, between the energy of the brushstroke and the stillness of the pose.
A pause in the chaos.
A moment that didn’t seek resolution — just the right kind of tension.
