Guardian of fragility – 40 x 40 cm
This painting comes from a place of deep reflection. Since my days at the Fine Arts School, I’ve had a special connection to the skull as a symbol. We used to draw skulls from life in anatomy classes, and I’ve always been fascinated by that balance between attraction and fear. The skull is a direct representation of life’s fragility, and as the years go by, that fragility feels more present.
This piece is a reminder that I now stand on the front line, bearing the responsibility of protecting and caring for my loved ones. The fear of death is undeniable, but there’s an even greater fear: leaving those we love unprotected.
The skull in the figure’s hands symbolizes the fragility we all share, while the geometric background with its vibrant gradient from orange to yellow contrasts with the soft cobalt blue. This combination not only adds visual texture but also reinforces the emotional tension between life and death. The painting invites deep reflection, confronting our mortality and the responsibilities that come with it.
