“Deliberate abandon”, oil on linen, 30 x 30 cm.
Balancing trust and surrender, this portrait seeks to capture a moment that is both physical and emotional. The relaxed posture, with arms behind the head, evokes a sense of deliberate abandon, while the sidelong gaze hints at an untold story—something that invites curiosity but keeps its secrets.
I wanted to explore the tension between what is revealed and what remains implied. There’s a tangible intimacy, yet also a subtle playfulness. The warm tones of the skin, shaped by bold brushstrokes, contrast sharply with the pure, almost boundless blue background. This blue envelops the figure, creating a suspended space, isolated from any specific context. Is this a gesture of surrender or a pause for reflection? That fragile line between vulnerability and provocation is the essence I wanted to explore.
