What interests me here is not the portrait as an image, but the gesture.
That instant when the hand interrupts the gaze. It doesn’t hide the face — it pauses it. A suspended second, just before the hand moves away, before the eyes close, before the body slips out of focus.
The light doesn’t accompany the figure, it pushes it.
It’s frontal and insistent, forcing a reaction. The face remains, the mouth slightly open holds the tension, and the visible eye still sustains the gaze. There is no rest yet.
Color works against the gesture.
The orange of the dress collides with the hard blues of the background. I’m not looking for harmony — I’m looking for friction. For the skin to absorb that excess of light and return it as nuance, vibration, discomfort.
The composition is tight, with no breathing space. Everything happens too close.
It’s that minimal moment when the body holds on just a little longer — before the blink.
This piece will be sent directly from my studio, carefully packed by me.
