INTIMATE
For Alejandro Casanova, nudity reveals human psychology the most. This moment of intimacy before the meeting with the social environment, with its habits and idiosyncrasies, plunges the human being into the human-object syndrome, where a purely selective criterion predominates.
Casanova reconstructs the scene while stripping off all superfluous detail. Discrimination. Separated. Mix. Then his characters seem to interact with the circumstances and environments he has chosen, as if to emphasize that point where we can imagine the feelings, the subconscious in their daily operation. An overwhelming and introspective sensibility. The artist invites us to breathe and feel the suggestive atmosphere peculiar to sometimes oppressive indoor environments. These portraits summarize the emotions. They represent everyday life, a contemplation in a mirror, the contact of bare feet with the tiles, an afternoon on a terrace, contact with hot water, resting on a couch, a dog.
Casanova represents those times when we are all talking to our fears within, our anxieties and our loneliness. He uses nudity for us to understand that it is only in these moments that we enjoy almost absolute freedom, then we get rid of all the artifices, and of our clothes. Casanova vigorously paints, revealing the strokes of brushes and knives, and textures that are specific of expressionism, without dwelling on details…
His compositions always represent the same model in different situations, never appearing redundant, but reinforcing the idea of soul-searching.

Intimistas
Para Alejandro Casanova el desnudo es el momento más revelador de la psicología humana. Ese instante de intimidad que posterga el entorno social, con sus rutinas y manierismos, profundiza en un mundo de relaciones hombre-objeto, donde predomina un criterio puramente selectivo.
Casanova reconstruye la escena despojándola de todo detalle superfluo. Discrimina. Separa. Difumina. Así sus personajes parecen interactuar con las circunstancias y los entornos que él mismo ha elegido, como para subrayar ese instante en el que podemos imaginar las sensaciones, el subconsciente, en su devenir cotidiano. Una sensibilidad sobrecogedora e introspectiva. El artista nos convida a respirar y sentir ese tono sugestivo propio de los ambientes cerrados -por momentos claustrofóbica-. Estos retratos son síntesis de emociones. El día a día, puertas adentro. La contemplación frente al espejo, el contacto de los pies desnudos con las baldosas, la mirada absorta frente a la pantalla de un ordenador, el contacto con el agua de una bañera, el reposo en un sofá, un perro solitario. Momentos en que rivalizamos con nuestro yo, en que nos enfrentamos a nuestros miedos, angustias y soledades, en que gozamos de una casi absoluta libertad y nos despojamos de nuestras vestiduras.
Casanova refuerza esta intencionalidad con pinceladas y texturas propias del expresionismo sin abandonar las formas y la expresividad del color y la línea, sin subrayar los detalles. Sus composiciones reproducen los mismos modelos en situaciones diferentes; sin embargo, esta reiteración no supone una limitación expresiva.
Tales recursos le permiten transitar entre dos discursos: el del más puro retrato realista y el del retrato difuminado que reivindica lo sensible e intimista del cuerpo humano, lo puramente emotivo.
